After Hurricane Ike struck Texas and other areas with a vengeance, Churches of Christ Disaster Relief immediately started sending truck loads of supplies to the devastated victims. During the last few weeks, we have set up 17 sites in Texas and 5 in Louisiana to distribute emergency supplies. For some, we are going back with second and third loads.
We have also started sending beds, appliances, clothing, and other items. It looks like a long and slow recovery for these areas. There is such heavy damage to these areas; it looks like it will run into millions and millions of dollars to help them recover.
Disaster Relief will continue to send help as long as we can continue purchasing the needed supplies. Without our volunteers and contributors, we could not do the work we do each day. We send you our most grateful thanks and ask that you continue to pray for us.
