Yesterday before lunch, another 53′ trailer full of prepacked family food boxes, personal hygiene boxes, infant care boxes, cleaning supply buckets, along with pallets of water, bleach, new clothing & new shoes, rakes, brooms, mops, shovels, wheelbarrows, laundry detergent, a retail value of over $90,000, left for the Immokalee Church of Christ in Immokalee, Florida.
This morning the 2nd shipment of the same supplies left around 8:30 for the Central Church in Victoria, TX
Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort was organized to help in the US. About the same time that we formed, so did Healing Hands International. For 12 years we both worked out of the same office. They moved to their own location in 2003, and there warehouse is about half a mile from ours in Nashville.
Our two organizations are working together to help the church in Puerto Rico and other US Territories with major damage from the recent hurricanes, to help those in need in these areas. Healing Hands sends supplies in shipping containers around the world, so we will provide the supplies we send, that are allowed by US law to be sent into US Territories from the mainland. You would think it would be easy to just ship anything to Puerto Rico, but many regulations are in place by the US Government to prevent harm, disease, pests, etc. from being sent unknowingly. We are going through the supplies to be sure what is allowed, and what is not, and we will provide the supplies we can, to send to those areas too.
